My mom makes some pretty good smoothies- D. Stills

This happens to be one of my son's favorite smoothies. As a mother of a teenage athlete, it is important to me to refuel his body after a long day of football practice with something that is easy to prepare, fulfilling, and nutritional. Avocado is the superhero of this smoothie; it is a superfood that gives my son the healthy fat and several vitamins and minerals his body needs for recovery. The peanut butter provides a thick, creamy taste and the bananas in this smoothie provide fiber and antioxidant content. My son has a sweet tooth, so this smoothie is a better option than a bag of candy, to satisfy his sweet tooth. For those in need of protein, I like to use an organic plant-based protein powder in this smoothie. This smoothie has a rich smooth taste that goes down and coats the stomach well. It will leave you feeling fulfilled and refueled.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz unsweetened vanilla almond milk or any milk of your choice

  • 1/2 cup of frozen or fresh chunks of avocado

  • ¾ cup of frozen or fresh chopped banana

  • 2 tablespoons organic peanut butter (No added sugar)

  • 1/2 cup ice- optional. I personally don't add ice.

Instructions

  1. Prepare (chop, measure) ingredients according to the above.

  2. Put all ingredients in a blender, I have a Ninja.

  3. Blend ingredients together based on the blender-type instructions for a smoothie consistency.

  4. Put the smoothie in a cup and enjoy. Made for immediate consumption.
